Mitch Baldwin (Deceased) 4/19/2011

Our beloved husband, son, father, uncle, brother and friend, Mitch W. Baldwin, 53, passed away peacefully at Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City, Utah on April 19, 2011, surrounded by the family he so dearly treasured. Mitch was born on September 9, 1957 in Cedar City to Adrian Ben and Ferrol Dene Whatcott Baldwin. He married the love of his life and sweetheart, Janette Nelson on August 18, 1984 in the St. George LDS Temple. This union was blessed with four children: Farah, Ben, Karlee and Alex.

Mitch was a life-long and very active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served an honorable mission to Chicago, Illinois. He loved teaching missionary preparation courses and took great delight in seeing his "students" go off to serve the Lord and their fellow man. He had a steadfast and rock-solid testimony of our Savior’s plan and love and we are certain someday a joyous reunion will take place with him above. He leaves us a lasting example of devotion and faith and we are eternally grateful.

Mitch loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his family. He had a great appreciation for Southern Utah and called countless members of our community true friends.

Mitch is survived by his wife, Janette Baldwin of Cedar City, Utah, children Farah (Kurt) Lefevre of Cedar City, Ben Baldwin of Cedar City, Karlee Baldwin of St. George and Alex Baldwin of Cedar City, Utah. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben and Ferrol Baldwin of Cedar City, sisters Bonnie (Dallas) Jones of Cedar City, Shelly (Kris) Hansen of St. George, Utah, Toni (Greg) Brown of Cedar City and Amy (Stan) Horlacher of St. George, Utah. Also his two grandchildren, whom he adored. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar Wagon Trail Ward Chapel, 638 East Canyon Center Drive, Cedar City, Utah. Viewings will be held Sunday, April 24, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Southern Utah Mortuary, 190 North 300 West, Cedar City, Utah and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the church prior to funeral service. Internment will be at the Cedar City Cemetery, all under the direction of the Southern Utah Mortuary.
