Brian Hardy Hirschi, passed peacefully on the evening of January 10, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. Brian was born on October 23, 1957 in Cedar City Utah. Brian split his time between Cedar where he was raised, and Rockville on the family farm. As a young kid, dad enjoyed all youth sports. He was also active in Boy Scouts achieving the merit of Eagle Scout. Brian attended Cedar High School where he played football and made some lifelong friends. He graduated from Cedar High in 1976 and was a proud Redman. Brian joined the Army National Guard immediately after high school in the summer of 1976, attending basic training in Fort Leonard Wood Missouri honorably serving his country. Brian always had a project going. He held some form of a job most of his life: mowing lawns and doing yard chores, to his high school job at the local Arctic Circle, moving on to the Coleman company for several years until he started his career at Coca Cola Bottling in 1978 and retiring in December 2022. Brian married Melanie Melling on January 20th 1978. Together they made a wonderful home at the Melling farm where they raised their three boys. They loved the farm; it will always remain their home. Brian loved sports and competition. He spent many years coaching Little League baseball & loved going to the ball field with the boys. Over the course of this special time, he threw hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of pitches. Brian was very dedicated to his family. He was a great support to his wife, boys, and extended family. He earned the respect and love of all who knew him. Brian lived a life of service. His first choice of service was cutting, hauling, and delivering firewood. Throughout life whenever there was a need, Brian was the first one there. He was always willing to put forth any effort to help others. Brain will be remembered and missed by many. Brian was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He served in many callings but being in the nursery was his favorite. Brian is survived by his wife Melanie, sons Jesse (Darcie), Jason, Jared (Kim). Grandchildren: Dax, Tel, Brooklyn, Tori, Kinlee, Kale, & Karden. Brian is also survived by his brothers Danny (Jeanne) & Paul Hirschi, and his sister Emily (Henry) Hilburn. Brian was preceded in death by his mother & father Vonda & Garland Hirschi of Rockville, Father-in-law Douglas Melling of Cedar City, brother- in-law Bill Melling of Cedar city, brother-in-law Mike Philibaum of Cedar city, nephew Blake Busker, & sister-in-law Barbara Hirschi. A viewing will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary on Monday January 16th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. A second viewing will be held at Coal Creek 2nd Ward, located at 290 West 1045 North, on January 17th from 9:30 – 10:30 am with the funeral following afterward at 11:00am. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery, under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
