Todd H. Kirkham

Santa Clara

Todd H. Kirkham, 58, passed away peacefully at his home in Santa Clara, UT, on June 23, 2016. He was born April 18, 1958, in Cedar City, UT, to Clarence Albert Kirkham, Jr. and Jean-Marie Kirkham. He married Janice W Petty on July 27, 1979, in Cedar City, UT.

Todd was raised in Cedar City, graduating from Cedar High School. He completed his college degree in Industrial Arts at Southern Utah State College. He excelled in graphic arts in both high school and college, garnering many awards for his work, and received recognition for his talents at both the state and national levels.

Todd and Janice moved to the St. George area, settling in Santa Clara, where they raised their family, and where he was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Dad served in multiple church positions, in particular in the Young Men program, and also served in the Santa Clara 3rd Ward Bishopric. Dad was very active in The Boy Scouts of America, he and all three of his sons achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

Dad loved the outdoors, and enjoyed camping and hunting with his family. He went on as many of his sons' scouting trips as he could. He was a regular at the annual Young Women's Camp for years assisting his wife with whatever she needed. He also participated in the 3rd Ward Powell Boys annual trip to Lake Powell for several years, from which came many great memories that he enjoyed sharing.

Dad was very skilled with his hands. Beyond his skill with graphic arts, Dad was an excellent mechanic, wood worker, and cabinet maker. He had an exquisite talent for design, and his attention to detail was second to none. When he built something, he built it to last. He could fix almost anything, except for the dishwasher and his wife's sewing machine, which she never would let him touch.

Dad had a quick wit and loved to have a good time. After he was diagnosed with melanoma he began designing t-shirts that poked fun of the cancer he was suffering from, and took great delight in showing off each new shirt to the doctors and nurses that were treating him. He continued to show his humor up until the very end.

Dad loved his family dearly, and adored his grandchildren. He had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we know that he is now at peace, and that we will see him again.

Todd is survived by: Janice, his wife of 36 years; 4 children: Casey (Heather) Kirkham of Ruidoso, NM; Jesse (Cassie) Kirkham of Cedar City; Chris Kirkham of Richfield; and Jackee (Skyler) Nelson of Ivins. He also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Grace, Anya, Rebecca, Curt, and Cameron.

Our family has been humbled by the outpouring of love and support that we have received, and we are so grateful to those who have taken care of our husband and father and grandfather during these last few months of his life.
