I don't really like to sum my life up in a tidy little paragraph or two. My husband passed away in 2008 and it has been hard NOT to define my life by that, but I have continued to do the things I like to do. Last year my little retail store, The Wizz, celebrated its 25th anniversary. Since I moved back to Cedar in 1990 and opened it, I have been very involved in many projects, especially in the arts, both as a performer and as a board member and how ever else I can add my abilities. After graduating from college in 1981, I taught Music and English on the secondary level for a few years. It was not for me at the time. And, in my free time, much like I do now, I continued to be invoved in performing and projects in the arts.
I was one of those kids that loved school. I think that my most favorite period was Jr. High. Probably before I discovered boys...:) I was always involved in music. So much so that I think I did miss out on some really important parts of my education....like History and Geography. But, if you can play the piano, you are always needed in one way or another. I had a great time in Jazz Band, Madrigals and A Capella. I also became very interested in Theatre. If I could be something when I grow up it would be a character actress. Kind of like a female Steve Buscemi. During school I made many great friends that are still friends today. That is probably the best gift God gave me. I was also the editor of the school newspaper and I learned a lot from that assignment. Like everyone, I had my favorite teachers: Fern Amend, Mrs. Palmer, Jim Dunaway and many more. High School was tough, but it prepared me for many things to come. Every person in our class had and still has a place in my memory. CHS was not my favorite time in life, but it certainly was rich in experience and that means everything to me. I am proud of all of us for surviving. My favorite people are those that kept their sense of humor through it all.
